- Post TechEd 2012 Follow Up…
By Alexander J. Almeida, Sr. Technical Marketing Manager, EMC Backup Recovery Systems Division
It has been several weeks now since the end of Microsoft TechEd 2012 in Orlando, and I can honestly say that the anticipation for next year’s TechEd in New Orleans is growing. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the great conversations that we had with you our customers at the EMC Booth.
While there were some interesting points of feedback that we heard while talking with you, it was incredibly nice to see that our Backup & Recovery offerings with it’s industry leading flexibility and scalability are fitting with your requirements as you continue to deploy next generation Microsoft Platforms. Specifically it was great to see a positive response to our newly announced support for Microsoft SQL 2012 as well as Microsoft Hyper-V. I was especially delighted to hear of one customer who was doing some really creative work in building modules for Microsoft System Center to monitor the activity of his EMC Avamar implementation. I just love the passion in the Microsoft Community!
As you may have seen/heard at the conference EMC Avamar was nominated as a finalist in the Best of TechEd (BOTE) North America Awards in the category of Backup & Recovery. This award recognizes the innovative products and services showcased at Microsoft TechEd. We at EMC drive to nothing short of excellence in our product development, and as a result expect more of these nominations going forward.
We are truly honored in being nominated this year, and we expect to have a strong case to win the award next year as we roll out innovative features in lock step with the upcoming Microsoft releases of Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Exchange 15, and SharePoint 15.
As a continued investment in the Microsoft community we have successfully implemented a plan made several years ago by the EMC Backup & Recovery Systems Division, to form a Microsoft Center of Excellence a few blocks from the Microsoft Campus in Redmond Washington. This helps us drive leading edge support for Windows and Microsoft applications in both EMC Avamar and the new EMC NetWorker 8.0, which was just announced last week! Working hand in hand with Microsoft’s engineers has resulted in the industry’s leading deduplication for Microsoft Windows platforms and applications. This includes enterprise class performance throughout the product line including those models targeted at our lower/mid-market segments, and all-inclusive innovative features such as Federated Backup and Granular Level Recoveries (GLR) for Exchange, SharePoint & Hyper-V.
As the saying goes, time flies, and I sure hope so, because I can’t wait to see you all again next year on Bourbon St. @ TechEd 2013.
