I spent most of my career (25+ years) as a systems administrator with responsibilities for storage architecture. But after many years of supporting production environments and becoming burned out by the 7x24 on-call schedule, I made the move into presales and then technical marketing.

Life is good. I am able to leverage my customer and sales experience, by helping my team understand the customer’s perspective and challenges. If you have questions, ask them here on or on EMC NetWorker Online Commnity. I'd love to chat!

My life away from work consists of playing in the great outdoors - I am an adrenaline junky, triathlete, mountaineer and techno-girl.

Making Your List and Checking It Twice
| December 14, 2012
Making your list and checking it twice.  It’s that time of year again – where does the time go? A friend and I were talking and the conversation ended up being that her husband always buys her things he thinks she needs, like a vacuum cleaner.  Not exactly on her top 5 list of what she wants ...

NetWorker Backup for SQL Server 2012
| October 31, 2012
In June of 2012 a 26 year old climber went out on a solo climb and took a tragic fall because he chose to carry but not use gear to protect him from falling. As I read the story I realized that storage and DBAs often times make decisions based on their comfort level and ...

Choose the Path Wisely
| September 28, 2012
What is your favorite time of year? For me, I am a fan of fall.  This weekend I took full advantage of fall in beautiful Colorado. My weekend included a 13.1 mile running race that incorporated rocks, roots, huge hills and a very narrow trail with 1,000 runners. This meant that we could only run ...

| August 17, 2012
Why should you honor boundaries? Last year I was skiing with a group that had lost a 13 year old friend during a ski accident.  The 13 year old was skiing out of bounds with an adult when they set off an avalanche. Yes, the adult encouraged the 13 year old to take the risk ...

This weekend we were rock climbing in an area that is very popular and filled with experienced climbers.  While waiting for a route we were observing climbers in other groups. One thing that I ...

What Would You Be Willing to Do If Your Life Depended on It?
| March 28, 2012
Last weekend I was able to get outside and enjoy the beautiful snow capped mountains around where I live.  The intent was an exhilarating back-country ski that would be emotionally relaxing.  However, the group I was with decided to discuss a rather heavy topic. The question we were discussing was: How you would react if ...

Does Age Matter?
| March 7, 2012
I was recently reading an article pertaining to age and athletic ability.  The not so shocking news is that athletes of any level will see a decrease in performance with age.  So yes, age does matter. How does this apply to backup? As I was reading this article it occurred to me that people getting ...

Sharing the NetWorker Love… and a Sneak Peek at 7.6 SP3
| November 16, 2011
Guest Post by Allan Waters, Senior Product Marketing Manager, EMC NetWorker What a fantastic week I’m having! First, I see a great IDC paper that highlights the OPEX benefits of EMC NetWorker, detailing how users are protecting 1TB of data with just a .5 (!) full time employee (FTE). Now, that’s awesome stuff! Talk about ...
